Artist Pop-up with Angelica

Flores de Papel by Angelica Collins

In Mexico, handmade paper flowers are a joyful folk art. Their roots go back to Aztec and Maya temples decorated with items made of bark paper. Today, “Flores de Papel” brighten weddings, special celebrations (fiestas), and Día de los Muertos altars, where golden marigolds light the way home for the spirits of loved ones. Every color has meaning: orange for the sun, purple for remembrance, white for hope, pink for celebration, and red for the life force of the ancestors.

Angelica Collins has spent more than 10 years in the Wood River Valley as a licensed esthetician. Now she brings the same careful artistry to her crepe paper flower designs. She shapes, layers, and fluffs each bloom by hand, creating colorful floral arrangements that honor a centuries-old tradition.

Join us on Saturday, October 17, as Angelica showcases a sample of her Día de los Muertos table decorations
